Breakfast in Houston: New York Coffee Shop

Info: New York Coffee Shop
9724 Hillcroft St
Houston, TX 77096
http://www.nybagelhouston.com/

Must Tries: Bagels! Pastrami and egg omelet! This is a great breakfast spot!
Healthy Options: The menu has egg options, be sure to try the whole wheat bagel.
Price: Some of the lowest breakfast prices in town! Most dishes under $6.
What to Expect: The New York Coffee Shop is a small hole in the wall that serves the best bagels in town. Come early because the line forms out the door.

My Experience: I don't know if it’s the great bagels or the crammed eating area or the hard accents of the staff, but this place reminds me of my trips to NYC. Customers have the option to eat at the Coffee Shop or just pick up bagels at the counter next door.

The bagels here are arguably the best in town. This Whole Wheat bagel had a slightly crunchy exterior and a fluffy and hearty interior. I enjoy eating these bagels non-toasted, they are that good!

My favorite was the pastrami omelet, which is served with home fries. The pastrami was moist and full of that great salty pastrami flavor.

The home fries can be ordered regular or crispy, I still can’t decide which way is best. The home fries have great flavor, they seem to be marinated in a spice which just makes them a must try.

While I usually go with the Whole Wheat bagel, every now and then I splurge and go with a Chocolate Chip bagel. This bagel was slightly crunchy on the outside but chocolaty sweet and gooey on the inside.
